Gray Woolly Jennet
DOB: 24 May 2010
Mature Height: 30 1/2″
Sire: N&D’s Lonestar Jiminey Cricket, 28 1/2″ Black Woolly
Dam: N&D’s Lonestar Glory, 32″ Gray-dun
We sorted through dozens of jennets that Nancy at N&D’s Lonestar offered for sale to find this one special little girl. Gala is a gorgeous, petite and refined jennet with excellent conformation and a pretty head. As an added bonus Gala is woolly, although we wouldn’t like her any less if she didn’t carry the long hair genes. Gala is officially registered with ADMS as dark brown, but it is clear from observing her coat color throughout the seasons that Gala is actually gray-dun. We think Gala is a very nice shade of gray, and she has an interesting “snake tongue” cross on her right shoulder.
Gala had her first foal with us in the summer of 2014, and all we can say is “Wow!”. Little Galaxy, or as we call her, Lexi, was only 16 1/2″ at birth and has very nice straight legs and was born with a jet black woolly coat. We are trying to decide who we want to breed Gala to next year. It will be hard to top little Lexi, but we are certain that Gala’s next foal will also be very special.
